Distort Support
Help with camera effects, imported media, recording, and Distort Pro subscriptions.
About Distort
Distort is an experimental visual-effects app for iPhone. Modes include LiDAR, Cube, 3D, Echo, Warp, Voxel, Color Scatter, Depth Lab and Body Tracking. Effect availability and performance can vary by device.
Device Requirements
Distort requires an iPhone running iOS 17 or later. Some features can use LiDAR or TrueDepth hardware on supported iPhones. Supported effects may use on-device AI depth estimation when specialized depth hardware is unavailable, and results may differ from hardware-assisted scans.
Distort Pro — Subscriptions
LiDAR and Cube can be previewed for free, but recording or saving in those two modes requires Distort Pro. The other filters are free. Distort Pro offers monthly and yearly auto-renewable subscriptions with no free trial. The available price is shown in your region before you confirm a purchase.
Subscriptions are billed by Apple. To manage or cancel your subscription, open Apple's subscription settings. Canceling generally stops future renewals; access normally continues to the end of the paid term, subject to Apple's terms.
Restore Purchases
- Open Distort and go to the Shop / Distort Pro page.
- Tap Restore Purchases using the Apple Account associated with your subscription.
- Wait for Apple to verify your active subscription and reopen LiDAR or Cube.
- If Pro remains locked, check your subscription status, internet connection, and contact support.
Camera, Microphone & Photos
- Camera permission is used for live effects and 3D capture.
- Microphone permission is used when you record video with audio.
- Photos add access allows you to save finished photos and videos.
- Import Photo and Import Video use Apple's media picker to access media you select.
Review these permissions in iPhone Settings → Distort. Imported media and AI analysis run on your device.
Troubleshooting
- If the camera preview freezes, close and reopen Distort, then check Camera permission.
- If recording or saving fails, check free device storage and Photos permissions.
- If a recording has no sound, check Microphone permission.
- If effects are slow, try a shorter recording or reduce effect density where supported.
- LiDAR/TrueDepth features may differ on iPhones without the corresponding hardware.
- If a subscription remains locked, try Restore Purchases and verify that the plan is active.
